Deacon Andrew G. Luhman, served in Freehold parish

Funeral services have been announced for Deacon Andrew G. “Drew” Luhman who died April 1 in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, at age 84.

A viewing will be held April 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. in St. Rose of Lima Chapel, Freehold. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated April 9 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church.

Deacon Luhman was ordained a deacon for the Diocese May 9, 2009, by Bishop John M. Smith in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton. He ministered in St. Rose of Lima Parish, Freehold, and in addition to his diaconal duties was involved with the Freehold Council, Knights of Columbus, the parish St. Vincent de Paul Conference and the Catholic Daughters Court.

His career experience included serving as an educator in the Spring Lake Heights School District and an adjunct professor in the mathematics department at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft. He was also a member of the New Jersey Education Association and the National Education Association.

Deacon Luhman was predeceased by his parents, brothers-in-law and wife, Miriam “Mimi” Luhman. He is survived by several sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations made be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Rose of Lima Church, 16 McLean St., Freehold, N.J. 07728 or Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey, 3 Eves Drive, Suite 310, Marlton, N.J. 08053.
