Funeral services were held Oct. 25 in Assisi House, Aston, Pa., for Franciscan Sister Frances Schiminsky who died Oct. 21 at age 95.

A professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 76 years, Sister Frances was born in Baltimore. She entered the congregation in 1946 and professed her vows in 1948. She held a bachelor of arts degree in history from Our Lady of Angels College, now Neumann University, Aston.

Ministering primarily in education and pastoral ministry, Sister Frances spent 51 years in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, 26 years of which were in education and 24 years in parish ministry.

In the Trenton Diocese, she spent eight years teaching in St. Anthony School, Hamilton; Blessed Sacrament School, Trenton, and St. Rose of Lima School, Freehold.

Sister Frances also served in schools in Boston, Purcell, Okla., Washington and Dallastown, Pa.

In 2017, she moved to Assisi House where she served in prayer and hospitality until her death.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews and her Franciscan family.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis, 609 S. Convent Rd., Aston, PA 19014.
