Parishes in the Diocese of Trenton have scheduled the following events:
St. John the Baptist Pelicans Young Adult Group, Allentown, will host its next gathering Jan. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Rd. Presenter Deacon Philip Clingerman will speak on “Antidote to Confusion” and will address how young people can live an authentic Christian lifestyle in a time of confusion. Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and refreshments will follow the talk. For more information, visit StJohnRomanCatholic.org.
St. Denis/St. Mark Council, Knights of Columbus, will host a Communion breakfast Jan. 21 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in St. Denis Parish Center, 90 Union Ave., Manasquan. Guest speaker will be Father Doug Freer, a retired priest of the Diocese, who will speak about his vocation journey which included how his love for the Eucharist led to his conversion to Catholicism and decision to become a priest.
Mary, Mother of the Church Parish Bereavement Ministry, Bordentown, is looking to expand its ministry. Persons interested in becoming support group facilitators are invited to a facilitator training course starting Jan. 24. St. Justin the Martyr’s St. Vincent de Paul Conference, Toms River, will sponsor a blanket drive after all Masses the weekend of Jan. 27-28. Donations of new or gently used twin, full and queen size as well as sleeping bags and new toiletries may be brought to the parish conference room located at 975 Fischer Blvd. All donations will be distributed locally.
St. Leo the Great Parish Separated and Divorced Ministry, Lincroft, is continuing its “Surviving Divorce: Hope and Healing for the Catholic Family,” a healing program being for divorced and/or separated Catholics.
An information night will be held Feb. 1 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the parish center meeting room, 50 Hurleys Lane. Participants are asked to email [email protected] and include name and contact information. A program facilitator will respond with details and answer any questions. St. Anthony of Padua Parish’s St. Cecilia Society, Red Bank, will present “St. Hildegard of Bingen, A Celebration of Medieval Music” Feb. 4 at 3:30 p.m. in the church, 28 Oratory Way. The presentation will feature enchanting music and ethereal chant melodies of St. Hildegard, a 12th century polymath, composer and writer. Melissa Thorton will be the soloist. A free-will offering will be collected. Attendees are asked to use the Chestnut St. entrance upon arrival. The church is handicapped accessible.
