Sister Robert Marie Green, served in Diocese for 61 years

Funeral services were held Dec. 10 in Assisi House, Aston, Pa., for Franciscan Sister Robert Marie Green who died Nov. 30. She was 87.

A professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 65 years, Sister Robert Marie was born Margaret Mary Green in Allentown, Pa. She entered the community in 1956 and professed her vows in 1959. She held a bachelor of arts degree in English from Neumann University, Aston, and a master of arts degree in supervision and administration from Rider College (now University), Lawrenceville.

Sister Robert Marie ministered in the Diocese of Trenton for 61 years, teaching in Holy Angels School, Hamilton; St. Mary of the Lakes School, Medford; St. Michael’s Orphanage, Hopewell, and St. Rose of Lima School, Freehold.

For 42 years she served in Corpus Christi School and Parish, Willingboro, first as principal of the school for 15 years and then as a pastoral associate for the remaining 27 years where she ministered to the homebound parishioners and founded the Corpus Christi Seniors Club. In 2019, she received the Knights of Columbus Award for her service to the elderly.

Sister Robert Marie’s additional ministry included serving three years as principal of Holy Trinity School in Columbia, Pa., in the Harrisburg Diocese. In 2023, she moved to Assisi House, the congregation’s retirement community, where she served in prayer and hospitality ministry until her death.

Sister Robert Marie is survived by a sister-in-law; many nieces and nephews and her Franciscan family.

Burial was in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Aston. Memorial donations can be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 609 S. Convent Rd., Aston, PA 19014.
