Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., celebrated the first of two Anniversary Blessing Masses that honored couples who reside in Monmouth and Ocean Counties and are marking milestone anniversaries – one, 25, 50 or more years of marriage – Oct. 8 in St. Robert Bellarmine Co-Cathedral, Freehold.
“Your pastors and priests join me in congratulating you and praying with you on this day that the good Lord continues to bless you in your married life,” Bishop O’Connell said as he welcomed more than 200 anniversary couples and their families to the annual Mass.
The second Mass, scheduled for Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton, will acknowledge couples from Burlington and Mercer counties who also are celebrating these significant anniversaries.
A special section on the two Bishop’s Anniversary Blessings events will run in the November issue of The Monitor Magazine, featuring reporting, interviews and photos. For information on this special tribute, write to [email protected] or call (609) 403-7169.
