Funeral services were held April 13 in the Chapel of the Most Holy Rosary in the Dominican Center in Mount St. Mary College, Newburgh, N.Y., for Sister Patricia Lally who died April 5 in Care One, Wall, N.J. She was 89.

Born in 1934 in Jersey City, Sister Patricia entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh, N.Y., in September 1952; made her first profession in June, 1954, and her final profession in August, 1957. She held a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Seton Hall University, South Orange; a Master of Arts degree in English from Villanova University, Villanova, Pa., and a Master of Science degree in pastoral counseling from Iona College, New Rochelle, N.Y.

Sister Patricia’s various duties included teaching in schools in New York and Connecticut; serving as vocation director and formation coordinator for her congregation. In her role as a certified spiritual director, she served on retreat teams for directed retreats in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey; a retreat house staff member, and coordinator of programs for spiritual development. She also served as a pastoral associate in two New Jersey parishes including St. Barnabas Parish, Bayville, in the Diocese of Trenton, from 1996 to 2004.

Sister Patricia is survived by a sister, a nephew and niece, several cousins and members of her congregation.

Burial was in the Dominican Sisters of Hope Cemetery on the grounds of Mount St. Mary College.
