Internationally renowned Catholic musician and evangelist Martin Valverde had a few simple yet pointed messages for the nearly 700 people who attended his concert Aug. 26 in the gymnasium of Holy Family Chapel, Lakewood.

Without Jesus, "we have nothing," he said. "Jesus is and should be our everything."

Valverde was invited to present the concert as part of an effort to raise greater awareness about Respect Life among the Hispanic faithful from around the Diocese and to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Respect Life ministry in Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Lakewood.

And when speaking about Respect Life, Valverde remains firm when he said, "it's not just about respecting the life of the unborn," it's the whole gamut of life -- from birth until natural death.
