The response comes after Bishop David M. O'Connell, C.M., announced the temporary suspension of all public Masses throughout the Diocese, and state and federal officials announced restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Bishop O’Connell’s schedule for Holy Week, Paschal Triduum
** All Masses and Liturgies through Holy Week will be celebrated without a congregation, accessible via live-stream only. The faithful are encouraged to participate reverently as families from their homes. Holy Communion will only be available as Viaticum for those in danger of death.
• The Mass for Palm Sunday will be celebrated by the Bishop without a congregation and livestreamed on diocesan websites at 11:30 a.m. April 5. Palms will not be blessed and distributed in any churches of the Diocese because of the risk of contagion. Palms will be blessed and made available at a later time yet to be determined.
