Masses, gift giving, words of thanks highlight Epiphany observances

The Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord on Jan. 5 commemorated the manifestation of God to all nations and the journey of the Magi to pay homage to the Infant Jesus. Among the parishes around the Diocese holding special observances included Mother of Mercy Parish, Asbury Park, where a festive gathering followed the 11:45 a.m. Mass in Holy Spirit Church. A special highlight was the three parishioners who dressed as Magi and presented youngsters in attendance with special gifts. Also in St. Rose, Belmar, the parish staff saw the solemnity as an occasion  to extend appreciation to parishioners who give of their time and talent to the parish throughout the year. At the Jan. 4 Vigil Mass, members of the East Coast Inspirational  Singers, a Catholic Gospel choir, were present to lead the congregation in song. After Mass,  a dinner was held  in St. Rose High School.
