Songs of prayer and stories of faith will be shared by world-renowned liturgical musician, composer and author David Haas when he visits to St. Anselm Parish at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 to present a concert and talk about his new book.

Haas’ visit to the Tinton Falls parish is part of his “I Will Bring You Home” tour in which he is traveling to parishes throughout the United States to present concerts and reflections he has written on his 40 years of composing music for the Catholic Church.

“It is an honor for David to have chosen St. Anselm’s as one of his stops,” said parish music minister Mike Zorner, who noted that over the past decade, Haas has presented concerts in St. Anselm Church every few years. The concerts were sponsored by the Upper Room Spiritual Center, Neptune.

Concert-goers, Zorner said, can expect a combination of Haas’ “most beloved songs and best-known pieces such as ‘Blest Are They,’ ‘We Are Called,’ ‘We Have Been Told’ and ‘You Are Mine.’” In addition, Haas will sing some newer pieces including “I Will Walk With You.”

Zorner said audience participation will be strongly encouraged. At the end of the concert, Haas is expected to take requests.

Zorner will also be inviting parish music ministry members to join him on a few pieces. “Our music ministry is very excited to be joining him in the concert,” said Zorner, noting that the parish choir has more than 50 members as well as a number of cantors and instrumentalists including a pianist, guitar players, drummers, a family that makes up a string quartet and a contemporary ensemble.

St. Anselm Parish is located at 1028 Wayside Road, Tinton Falls. Tickets are $10 if purchased in advance; $12 at the door and $5 for children 12 and younger. To purchase tickets, visit stanselm.com. For information, contact Zorner at [email protected] or 732-493-4411.
