Waves of Hope and Healing retreat set

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

A retreat opportunity for those affected and/or recovering from Superstorm Sandy will be hosted by Stella Maris Retreat Center, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. to Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. as a way to prayerfully observe the first anniversary of Hurricane Sandy.

The retreat center will open its doors for a time of retreat and spiritual renewal for those in our local communities whose lives were so seriously impacted by the storm a year ago.  The retreat will include reflection, prayer, spiritual companionship and community-building to help in the ongoing recovery process.  Activities over the two days will include speakers on topics aimed at helping people cope, heal, deal with stress and anxiety, and find hope and sources of strength, a healing walk on the labyrinth, art and mandala therapy, journaling, deep listening and sharing opportunities, prayer and ritual, time for personal prayer and quiet, special dinner on Oct. 27 and Mass on Oct. 28.

The program is free, due to a grant from Investors Bank and the support of the Sister of St. Joseph of Peace who sponsor the retreat center.  Pre-registration is required by Oct. 18.  Overnight guests and commuters are being accepted.  To register or for more information, call 732-229-0602, email [email protected] or visit www.stellamarisretreatcenter.com.

Stella Maris Retreat Center is located at 981 Ocean Ave., Long Branch.
