Symposium on 'The Constitution of the Sacred Liturgy' planned

The diocesan Office of Worship will sponsor “The Constitution of the Sacred Liturgy” Dec. 14 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church at 63 Georgia Road, Freehold. The day will consist of registration, Continental breakfast, Mass, morning and afternoon presentations and table conversation with questions, lunch and a panel discussion to conclude the day.

Dr. Christopher M. Bellitto, chair, assoc. professor of history, Kean University, Union, is a public speaker and media commentator on Church history and contemporary Catholicism who will speak during the morning session on the topic “Liturgical Path Back to the Future.” The afternoon speaker will be Father Dennis Gill, director for the Office of Worship in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, an adjunct professor at St. Charles Seminary, Philadelphia, and the Liturgical Institute in Mundelein, Chicago. He spent several years as director of Liturgy at the North American College in Rome and has many articles and publications including his latest book, “Music in Catholic Liturgy: A Pastoral and Theological Companion to Sing to the Lord.” He will speak on the topic “Effects of the Constitution of the Sacred Liturgy on Liturgical Ministries and Ministers.”

The registration fee is $20 and includes Continental breakfast and lunch.
