Sister Rose Miriam Breslin, at 77

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 27 in the Convent of Mercy Chapel, Merion Station, Pa.for Mercy Sister Rose Miriam Breslin, who died April 22 in Penn Presbyterian Hospital, Philadelphia. She was 77.
Sister Rose Miriam professed her vows as a Sister of Mercy in 1954. She held a bachelor’s degree in humanities from Villanova University, Villanova, Pa. with a certificate in history form the Pennsylvania Department of Education and a master’s degree in religious education from La Salle University, Philadelphia, Pa.
Sister Rose Miriam taught in elementary schools and high schools in Philadelphia and Florida as well as Latin and religion in Cardinal Dougherty High School, Philadelphia.
In 1973, she moved to New Jersey to become the coordinator of religious education in Sacred Heart Parish, Riverton. She was recognized and honored by the National Association of Parish Coordinators and Directors of Religious Education in October, 1990. from 1991 to 1993, she pursued continued education at The Jesuit School of Theology, Berkeley, Calif.
She then moved to Atlanta, Ga. and was the adult spiritual director in Sacred Heart Parish, Atlanta from 1993 to 1995.
After Atlanta, Sister Rose Miriam continued to serve in faith formation programs in parishes New Jersey and Delaware, including the religious education program in St. Thomas More Parish, Manalapan.
Sister Rose Miriam moved to her community’s motherhouse in 2008 and served on the staff until her death.
Burial was April 28 in the community’s cemetery.
