A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 9 in St. Lucy Chapel in Villa Walsh, Morristown, for Filippini Sister Mary Pagano who died Dec. 5. She was 95.

Born and raised in the Ironbound section of Newark, Sister Mary entered the Religious Teachers Filippini in 1934. She received her habit in 1935 and made her religious profession In 1938. She was awarded a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Seton Hall University, South Orange.

Predominantly a junior high school teacher, Sister Mary taught in schools in New Jersey, Maryland and New York. In the Trenton Diocese, she taught in St. James School, Trenton, from 1954-1955; St. Joachim School, Trenton, from 1955-1956 and 1967-1969, and remedial work in Holy Innocents School, Neptune, from 1992-1993.

Sister Mary served as principal and superior in St. Mary of Mount Virgin Parish, New Brunswick. In her later years, she taught remedial reading in St. Joseph School, Hammonton, and Holy Innocents, Neptune.

Sister Mary is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.

Burial was in Ave Maria Cemetery.
