Sister Mary Celestine Palz, served in education ministry

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Feb. 6 in McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung, for Mercy Sister Mary Celestine Palz who died Feb. 2. She was 91.

Sister Mary Celestine was born in Trenton and received her education with the Sisters of Mercy in St. Mary Grammar School and Cathedral High School, both in Trenton. She entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1940.

Sister Mary Celestine held a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Georgian Court College, Lakewood. She taught for more than 50 years in schools in the Trenton Diocese including St. Joseph, Trenton; St. Ann, Keansburg; and St. James, Red Bank.

Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery, Hamilton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Mercy Mid-Atlantic Community, 1645 Highway 22, Watchung, N.J. 07069.
