A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 20 in St. Lucy Chapel at Villa Walsh, Morristown, for Filippini Sister Laura Valeriani who died Nov. 14. She was 98.

Born in Trenton, Sister Laura entered the Religious Teachers Filippini in 1928. She received the habit in 1932 and made her religious profession in 1935. She held a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Seton Hall University, South Orange.

Sister Laura taught middle and upper grades in New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Connecticut. In the diocese of Trenton, she served in St. James School, Trenton; St. Joachim School, Trenton; and was the librarian in Villa Victoria Academy, Ewing, for 18 years. She retired in 1993, but remained in residence in Villa Victoria until she transitioned to St. Joseph Hall Infirmary at Villa Walsh.

Burial was in Ave Maria Cemetery at Villa Walsh.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Hall Infirmary, c/o Sister Betty Jean Takacs, provincial superior, Villa Walsh, 455 Western Ave., Morristown, N.J., 07960-4928.
