July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
As a tool for providing theological building blocks for those who would like to specialize in their respective ministries, the diocesan Office of Catholic Education is offering a series of one-day CORE Theology lectures in the Chancery in Lawrenceville this fall. Beginning Sept. 21, the eight-part series is part of the diocesan certificate program but will be open to the general public.
The first workshop in the series, entitled “The Historical Development of the Mass,” will be presented Sept. 21 by Msgr. Sam A. Sirianni, director of the diocesan Office of Worship and pastor of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, Freehold. The workshop will review the historical periods that influenced and shaped the celebration of the Mass through the ages.
“Evangelization 101,” offered Sept. 24, will examine Catholic evangelization with a particular emphasis on witness and proclamation from the perspective of the Gospel mandate. Workshop presenter Andrés Arango serves as director of evangelization for the Diocese of Camden and national chairman of the Hispanic Catholic Charismatic Renewal Executive Committee.
Other sessions to be held later this year will cover the topics of prayer, canon law, multicultural Catholic social teaching, sacramental theology and the Doctors of the Church. Each topic in the series will be repeated next spring. Presenters will include clergy, religious and tribunal staff.
All workshops will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the diocesan Chancery, located at 701 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville. Attendees should bring their lunch. The cost for each workshop is $10; checks should be made payable to the Diocese of Trenton. Registration for several lectures may be done at one time.
Registration in advance is preferred. Forms can be found online at http:// www.DioceseofTrenton.org/CORETheology. For questions or further information, contact Kathleen Golazeski at [email protected] or call 609-403-7205.
