The upcoming annual concert presented by Peter Nero and the Philly Pops and benefiting patients and residents in St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center/Morris Hall was announced at a June 8 press conference in the Lawrenceville facility. The concert, entitled “Broadway Rocks,” will take place in Patriots Theater at the Trenton War Memorial Oct. 2 at 8 p.m.

The Foundation of Morris Hall/ St. Lawrence Inc. chairpersons Pasquale “Pat” Colavita, Mercer County freeholder, and Nina Melker, senior vice president of Princeton Bank, made the announcement before a gathering that included Mercer County Freeholder Brian Hughes; Anne Cannon, chairperson of the Freeholder board; Paula Sollami-Covello, Mercer County clerk; Lawrence Township Mayor Michael Powers; Pennington Mayor Anthony Persichilli; and fellow committee members, patrons, friends and residents of Morris Hall.

Proceeds of the concert are used for charity care and to benefit the patients of St. Mary’s Assisted Living and St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Center, facilities within the St.

Lawrence Rehabilitation Center. “We turn no one away,” Colavita revealed as he thanked the patrons and sponsors of this event. This concert, now in its ninth year, has raised more than $800,000 for charity care.

The concert also benefits high schools in Mercer County. Special programs provide music education to schools and afford the opportunity for students to become “special guest conductors” with the Philly Pops.

Nero, a Grammy Award winner, developed the program to “have something for everyone” and has included songs from “Mamma Mia,” “Tommy,” “Grease,” “Hairspray,” and “Jersey Boys.” Special guests Hugh Panaro, Carpathia Jenkins and Christiane Noll, and the Voices of the Pops will also perform. The concert at the Trenton War Memorial, is the “kickoff” for the Pops season in Philadelphia.

Morris Hall resident Stephanie Palasek enjoyed the sampling of music played by Peter Nero and shared in the excitement of this benefit concert.

“This is a wonderful place to live,” she said as she held the hands of fellow residents, Mary Sherrier and Ginny Belviso. “God has blessed us with all that we need.”

Tickets, ranging from $30 to $75, can be purchased by calling (800) 955-5566 or on the web at www.tickets.com.

Those interested in purchasing patron tickets should contact Jane Millner, director of community relations and development for St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center at (609) 896-9500, ext. 2215 or [email protected].
