Paige Jaeniche's essay

Every single one of us is the amazing artwork of our Lord, God and Savior. We all have talents that describe who we are. We are not supposed to be judged by the masterpiece we are on the outside, but how we are on the inside.

We all have special talents that God gave us. We could be the best athlete, artist, singer, gymnast, etc. But those talents aren’t the most important.  We can be the prettiest girl in the world or the famous kid who knows everything; but it doesn’t matter. What does matter is who we choose to be on the inside. The inside of your heart and how you treat other people is far more important.

God is the artist, and we are Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa or Monet’s Lily Pond. In other words, we are the masterpieces he created.  The masterpieces he made come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors.  We are all unique and different works of art. We are a painting that tells us who we are.

There are times when we may want to change who we are.  We may get jealous. I am guilty of that sometimes.  I remember feeling sad and disappointed when one of my close friends accomplished something that would have liked to try as well. We should not be jealous of our friends because it is one of the seven deadly sins.  We should never feel ashamed of who we are. People can say mean things about you, but it shouldn’t matter to you. You are the masterpiece you see in the mirror.  Your parents look back at your achievements and say, “Wow, that’s my girl/boy.”  Who are you inside?  Do you treat people the right way?

We should wear the face of Gad every day.  We should love and show other people respect.  We are all masterpieces of God’s creation.
