Notre Dame High School presents musical "Anything Goes"

Notre Dame High School, Lawrenceville, will present their spring musical, “Anything Goes,” March 4, 5, 11 and 12. Curtain time for each performance is 7:30 p.m.

The story follows the hilarious antics aboard an ocean liner sailing from New York to London. Billy Crocker is a stowaway in love with Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Nightclub singer turned evangelist, Reno Sweeney, and Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin, help Billy in his quest to win Hope.

With music and lyrics by Cole Porter, “Anything Goes” debuted on Broadway in 1934 and immortalized such songs as “You’re the Top,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” and the title song, “Anything Goes.”

NDHS Performing Arts and Music Director, Louis Gibilisco, first directed the show at the Lawrenceville high school in 1995, with current NDHS teachers Bonnie Milecki and David Chebra as members of the cast and crew. Two alumni from the 1995 performance served on the panel of judges for play auditions of the current cast. Gibilisco plans a more elaborate treatment than the original production 21 years ago.

“We have updated the script, rearranged some of the music and created fresh choreography,” he said. “We plan on having a much grander set, with an authentic look to the ship. The costumes will be much more extravagant, staying very close to the time period.”

Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for seniors over age 65, students and children. They are available on the Notre Dame High School website at ndnj.org. For further information, contact the school at 609-882-7900. Notre Dame High School is located at 601 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville.
