My Dad's Story

Winning Respect Life Essay by Hailey Sollas
July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

My Pop-Pop and MeMom prayed for a baby for many years. Then they decided to adopt a baby. One cold January night they got a call from some Sisters in Trenton. There was a little boy that they could come get the next morning. His mom loved him but, could not take care of him. They were so excited. They called the owner of the pharmacy and asked if he could please come and open his store, even though it was Sunday night. He said yes and let MeMom shop around for diapers, formula and bottles. When she brought it to the register he said, “Please take this for free. It is my gift. I am so happy for you.”

The next morning they went to pick up the little boy. When they got there they were so happy that they finally had a baby. They brought him home and took very good care of him. They named him Thomas Vincent Sollas.

This little boy is my daddy because his birth mom respected life. She loved him so much she did not want to hurt him and she chose adoption. My mom, my brother, my four sisters and I all love my dad so much. My family knows how important it is to respect life and we pray the Rosary that more babies are saved.
