Mercy Sister Marina O'Donnell, former teacher in St. Paul School, Princeton

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 21 in McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung, for Mercy Sister Marina O’Donnell who died Dec. 18. She was 90.

The former Margaret Mary O’Donnell was born in Washington, D.C.  She received her elementary and secondary education in Georgetown Visitation Convent, Washington, D.C. She held a bachelor’s degree in social studies from Georgian Court College (now University), Lakewood, in 1944.

Entering the Sisters of Mercy Sept. 23, 1945, Sister Marina spent most of her professional life as an elementary school teacher, serving in schools in the Dioceses of Trenton, Metuchen and Camden. In the Trenton Diocese, she served in St. Paul School, Princeton, from 1960-1964.

In later years, Sister Marina was also active in pastoral care ministry.

Sister Marina is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Burial was in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Mercy, McAuley Hall Health Care Center, 1633 U.S. Highway 22, Watchung, N.J. 07069.
