Mary J. Pelkowski, 72, wife of Deacon Raymond Pelkowski

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 21 in St. Benedict Church, Holmdel, for Mary J. Pelkowski who died Oct. 14 in Bayshore Hospital. She was 72.
Born in 1937 in Weehawken, Mrs. Pelkowski, who was the wife of Deacon Raymond R. Pelkowski, was raised in Jersey City and moved to Matawan in 1964, and then Union Beach in 2001.
Mrs. Pelkowski worked for Shrewsbury State Bank as a customer service representative and also at Bare Necessities in Matawan for more than 20 year.
She graduated from Ferris High School in Jersey City as the class salutatorian and was also the recipient of the Gold Key Award by the American Legion.
In addition to her husband of 54 years, Mrs. Pelkowski is survived by three daughters and two sons-inlaw: Roberta A. and Kevin Wertz of Iselin; Gail and Gusatvo Quiros of Matawan, and Mary K. Roberts; one son and daughter-in-law, David R. and Melissa of Howell; two sisters; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Entombment was in Holmdel Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Shore Point Funeral Home.
