Mary Hannaway Cassidy, longtime Catholic educator

Mary Hannaway Cassidy, a longtime Catholic school teacher in Our Lady of Good Counsel School, Moorestown, died March 14 in her home in Cherry Hill. She was 69.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 21 in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, with Father Damian McElroy, pastor, as principal celebrant.
Mrs. Cassidy was born and raised in Scotland. She graduated from Craiglockhart College of Education, Edinburgh (Sisters of the Sacred Heart) and studied with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.
After marriage, she moved to the United States, settling in South Jersey. She taught in Our Lady of Good Counsel School for 16 years.
Mrs. Cassidy is survived by her husband, James, retired general manager of The Monitor; six children and their spouses: Kevin (Mary); Neil (Danielle); Michael (Melissa); Pamela (Anthony) Scalamandre; Eileen (Mark) Parsonage, and Colette (Matthew) Kreitz; seven grandchildren, and one brother.
Burial was private.
