Let's Get Social: Priest ordination cause for celebration on social media

On June 4, Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., ordained six new priests in front of hundreds of faithful gathered in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton.

As part of its comprehensive coverage of the joyful event, the Diocesan Office of Communications and Media, livestreamed key moments, shared photos and posted videos from the Mass on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Dozens of people who weren’t able to make it to the Cathedral followed along in real time, while others checked out the coverage later. (You can read all about the six new priests of the Diocese in the special supplement included in this issue.)

The likes, shares and comments on the live coverage poured in for days after the ordination, including the following well wishes:

Anne Valentino:  It was a beautiful morning, Welcome to our new priests!

Richard L. Osborn: God Bless them. They are great!

Frank Weber: My very best wishes & prayers go out to the 6 newly ordained priests for our diocese. May you serve her people well. May the Lord bless you and keep you in the palm of his hand!  God bless you, brothers in Christ. Deacon Frank

Diana M DiCicco: May God bless them and keep them close to Him! There is so much work to be done in today’s Church ... may they evangelize well!

Maura Clare Domashinski: Praying for our new Associate Pastor St. Benedict School and Church, Father John Michael Apelado Patilla! May God bless your priesthood and the Blessed Mother watch over and protect you always!

Josie Clark: Congrats to our brand new priests, may God bless you forever more.

Bob Morris:  God Bless our Shepherd and new Priests.
