Lawrenceville parish to hold art workshop on Celtic spirituality, Book of Kells

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

St. Ann Parish, Lawrenceville, will hold a painting workshop/retreat to explore the Holy Spirit through Iona’s Wild Celtic Goose and Ireland’s Book of Kells from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 2 in the Faith Development Center, 1253 Lawrence Road.

The workshop will examine the mystery of Divine Inspiration from the perspective of Celtic spirituality while participants learn the art of gilding (laying 24K gold) and painting their own Celtic Goose (the drawing provided to paint and gild). Celtic music, photos and stories inspired by the workshop facilitator Terry Galvin Anderson’s recent pilgrimage to the home of St. Columba’s monks on the isle Iona are included.

The Book of Kells, on display in Dublin’s Trinity College, contains the four Gospels in Latin through calligraphy and ancient artwork.

All instructions, materials, brushes and gold will be provided. Beginners are welcome. The cost is $75. To register, call Galvin Anderson at 609-213-3388 or email tgalvina@aolcom.
