July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

Holy Cross Academy, Delran, will sponsor a Blue Mass Sept. 29 on the Feast of St. Michael the Archangel, patron saint of police officers. The Mass will serve as an opportunity to honor and pray for all law enforcement officials in the county. More than 70 officers, representing 15 Burlington County local police departments, several county law enforcement agencies and the New Jersey State Police, have committed to attending the Mass, and more are expected to join.

“The Diocese hosts an annual Blue Mass for all members of the law enforcement community in the four counties of the Diocese of Trenton in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton," explained Father Christopher J. Colavito, chaplain of Holy Cross Academy. "The 2018 Blue Mass will be celebrated April 17 in the Cathedral. The Blue Mass for Burlington County will be held in Holy Cross Academy and will welcome all police officers in Burlington County of all faith traditions to join in prayers of thanksgiving and protection in addition to the Blue Mass the Diocese will host in the spring."

The Mass will be held in the school auditorium at 10:30 a.m. and is open to the public. Those who would like to show their support and pray for law enforcement are encouraged to attend.

“Holy Cross Academy will be opening its doors not only to the brave men and women of law enforcement, but to all residents of Burlington County who want to pray for their safety and continued good service,” said Dennis Guida, principal.

For more information, call Father Colavito at 732-267-4944. Holy Cross Academy is at 5035 Route 130 South, Delran. Telephone is 856-461-5400.
