Funeral services for Sister Mary Innocent Dolan


A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 12 in St. Catherine of Siena Chapel of McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung, for Mercy Sister Mary Innocent Dolan who died Nov. 8. She was 89.

Born in South Amboy, Sister Mary Innocent entered the Sisters of Mercy Sept. 15, 1946. She was a graduate of the New Jersey College for Women (now Douglass College of Rutgers University), New Brunswick, where she received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1943. She also held a master’s degree in chemistry from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., which she was awarded in 1958.

Sister Mary Innocent served in the ministry of education in the dioceses of Camden, Metuchen and Trenton. In the Trenton Diocese, she taught in Trenton Cathedral High School, from 1950-1968. She also served as archivist for the Sister of Mercy of New Jersey from 1985 until her retirement in 2004.

 Burial was in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Mercy, Mid-Atlantic Community, 1645 U.S. Highway 22, Watchung, N.J. 07069
