A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Assisi House, Aston, Pa., for Franciscan Sister Grace Pierre Forrester who died March 19. She was was 98. Sister Grace Pierre was born in Trenton and a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, which is now part of Our Lady of the Angels Parish, Trenton. Sister Grace Pierre entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia in 1932 and professed her first vows in 1935. She earned a bachelor of science degree in education in 1950 from Villanova University and also held a master’s degree in English. She served primarily in education on both elementary and secondary levels.

In the Trenton Diocese, Sister Grace Pierre ministered for 46 years in several schools including St. Anthony School, Hamilton, from 1938-1939 and 1942-1946; St. Michael’s Children’s Home, Hopewell, from 1947-1956; McCorristin Catholic High School, Hamilton, 1973-1989, and Immaculate Conception School, Trenton, 1989-2005.

Sister Grace Pierre also served for 22 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia; four years in the Archdiocese of Boston, and four years in the Diocese of Providence. Additional ministry experience included serving as administrator of St. Mary Home, New Bedford, Mass., and teaching in other parts of Pennsylvania.

Sister Grace Pierre is survived by a sister, nieces, nephews and her Franciscan family.

Burial was in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Aston.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 609 S. Convent Rd., Aston, Pa. 19014.
