Funeral arrangements announced for St. John Vianney High's Jayne Shalkowski


Funeral arrangements announced for St. John Vianney High’s Jayne ShalkowskiJayne Shalkowski, who served for more than 40 years as a guidance counselor and cheerleading coach in St. John Vianney High School, Holmdel, died suddenly May 21 in Red Bank. She was 61.

Funeral arrangements will include a viewing May 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. in the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated May 24 at 9:15 a.m. in St. Catharine Church, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel.

Mrs. Shalkowski was born in Staten Island. In addition to working in St. John Vianney High School, she was also the cheerleading coach for Montclair State University, Montclair, for 14 years.

Mrs. Shalkowski was predeceased by her father, Richard Jeffreys. She is survived by her mother, Harriet, (Glenn) Jeffreys; her husband of 37 years, Bernard; her daughter, Stacie; three brothers; a sister, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Heart Association, heart.org, are requested.
