Free, family-friendly Christmas musical to be staged in Long Branch

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

Lighthouse Productions of Oceanport will preview its new Christmas musical, “Time for a Miracle,” Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. in Seashore School, Long Branch. The free musical, which features 15 songs and a heartwarming story about friendship, healing and redemption, follows Charlie, a young orphan looking for her mother, and Elizabeth, a 12-year-old girl desperately in need of a miracle.

Local father and daughter Russ Scalzo and Rachel Ryan created the musical which features many diocesan parishioners as part of its cast and crew. David Shirley, director of music in Nativity Parish, Fair Haven, assists with the play’s score, while principal roles include characters played by Andrea and Maddy Clemenko (St. Rose of Lima Parish, Freehold); Richard and Kim O’Leary (Holy Family Parish, Union Beach), and Gregory Riley, a student in St. Benedict School, Holmdel.

“Time for a Miracle” offers a message of hope and God’s love and is family-friendly. Upbeat song and dance help young Charlie understand the plan God has for her.

Admission is free and open to the public. Doors will open a half hour prior to show time. Performances are Nov. 30, Dec. 6 and Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. and Dec. 4, 5 and 6 at 7:30 p.m. Seashore School is located at 404 Broadway, Long Branch. For further information, contact director Rachel Ryan at 732-757-6614 or [email protected].
