A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. in St. Peter Church, 406 Forman Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, for Conventual Franciscan Father Crispin Fuino who died Jan. 14 in Claremont Center, Point Pleasant, at age 94.

A wake service will be held Jan. 16 starting at 4 p.m. and continue to 7 p.m. at which time a Franciscan wake service will be celebrated.

Born in Harrison, Father Crispin was professed as a Conventual Franciscan Friar Aug. 30, 1942, in Cohoes, N.Y., and made his solemn vows Aug. 30, 1945, at Rensselaer, N.Y. He was ordained a priest May 22, 1948, in Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Albany. Having spent most of his priesthood serving in parochial ministry in New York and New Jersey, he served as associate pastor and pastor of St. Francis Parish, Hoboken. He was also pastor of Our Lady of Angels Parish, Albany, N.Y.; St. Peter Parish, Riverside (which is now part of Jesus the Good Shepherd Parish, Riverside), and Assumption Parish, Syracuse, N.Y. after serving for a short while as director of the Franciscan Retreat Center, Rensselaer, N.Y., he returned to New Jersey. At the time of his death he had served with the Franciscan community in St. Peter Parish, Point Pleasant Beach, for 14 years.

Father Fuino was predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Maria (Michelina) Salva Fuino; four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by several nieces and nephews as well as members of the Franciscan community.

Burial will be in the Friars’ Plot in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.

Memorial donations may be made to the Franciscan Friars’ Retirement Fund, P.O. Box 629, Rensselaer, NY 12144.
