Father Dennis A. Apoldite, pastor, Sacred Heart Parish, Trenton, was recently honored at the 22nd Annual Vocations Dinner hosted by the Knights of Columbus Council 7244 held April 15 in the Catholic War Veterans Home, Trenton.

Deacon Barry J. Zadworny, St. Hedwig Parish, Trenton, explained that Father Apoldite, who also serves as director of Sacred Heart House of Priestly Formation, “was chosen to give recognition to his many years of service to God, and also his role as chaplain at Notre Dame High School.”

Deacon Zadworny, former Grand Knight of Council 7244 who founded the vocations dinner 22 years ago, noted the event’s “twofold purpose of honoring priests, deacons and the religious who were native sons and daughters of St. Hedwig Parish, Trenton. The first honoree was Bishop Kmiec is also former Bishop of Nashville and a former Trenton Diocesan Auxiliary Bishop.

“The second purpose was to use the annual vocations dinner as a vehicle to promote priesthood and religious vocations. Funds derived from the dinners have helped defray the educational and living expenses of young seminarians and the religious.”

Dr. Kulak, who is also a former Grand Knight of Council 7244, along with Deacon Zadworny, served as co-chairmen of the annual event.
