The Mercer County Catholic Youth Organization has been awarded a three-year, $15,000 grant by the Investors Foundation in support of the CYO’s capital expansion project.
Established in 1952, the CYO provides a variety of affordable, high-quality educational and recreational services that include preschools, before- and after-school programs, summer day camps, swimming lessons, and youth athletic leagues. Though the organization’s mission is rooted in Catholic tradition, services are provided to youths and families regardless of their culture or religious beliefs.
“For over 60 years, CYO has been known to be a very affordable child-care option available to all working families in the area,” said Thomas G. Mladenetz, executive director of CYO of Mercer County. “Our CYO programs are not only State-licensed, they are also nationally accredited, so parents have confidence in the quality of the care their children receive.”
This past spring, CYO broke ground on a 4,600 square-foot addition to the main building of its Yardville site. Named the Monsignor Toomey Annex in honor of CYO founder Monsignor Leonard R. Toomey, the annex will provide additional space for physical education classes, indoor play, staff development workshops, and various other meetings and activities. The foundation grant will help support the project.
“We are extremely grateful for the friendship of the Investors Foundation, and all our donors,” said Mladenetz.
“For more than eight years, the Investors Foundation has supported nonprofit organizations that enrich the diverse communities served by Investors Bank,” said Investors Bank president and CEO, Kevin Cummings. “We wish Catholic Youth Organization continued success with this important expansion initiative.”
Based in Short Hills, Investors Foundation supports non-profit organizations that enrich the quality of life in the communities the bank serves since 1926. To date, the foundation has dispensed more than $7 million to support initiatives ranging from community and civic improvements to the fight against diseases.
