It was a day of great joy for the faith community of St. Ann Parish, Lawrenceville, as parishioners witnessed the installation of their pastor, Trinitarian Father Gerard Lynch, O.SS.T. by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M. The installation was celebrated during the 5 p.m. Mass April 18, which is observed as the Third Sunday of Easter.

Father Gerard was named Administrator of St. Ann Parish in 2014, succeeding Msgr. R. Vincent Gartland, who retired after some 20 years of service as the parish Pastor. Father Gerard’s appointment as Pastor of St. Ann Parish by Bishop O’Connell became effective in January, 2015.

Father Gerard was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1948. He was educated in public elementary schools and Nazareth High School, Brooklyn. He entered the Trinitarian Community July 3, 1966; made his Simple Vows in August, 1967, and his Solemn Vows Aug. 12, 1970.

Father Gerard holds an Associate in Arts degree from Trinitarian College; a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy from St. Mary Seminary and University, Baltimore, and a Master of Divinity degree from St. Mary’s Seminary, Roland Park.

He was ordained a priest Sept. 14, 1974, in Holy Trinity Monastery Chapel, Baltimore, by Bishop F. Joseph Grossman, who was Auxiliary Bishop of Baltimore at the time.

Father Gerard had a long history with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Asbury Park, which is now part of Mother of Mercy Parish. He served there as a transitional Deacon, then returned there as a newly ordained priest where he served as parochial vicar. In January, 1978, he was transferred to Holy Trinity Monastery, Baltimore, where he held various positions as Secretary Provincial, Treasurer Provincial and Monastery Superior.

On July 1, 1981, he returned to Our Lady of Mount Carmel where he served as Pastor for 27 years. His next assignment  came on June 13, 2008, when he moved to Trenton and became Director of Novices for the Trinitarian community, providing instruction to novices who were preparing for the Religious Life and Priesthood. While serving the Order in that capacity, he also ministered in several parishes in the Diocese of Trenton and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, including the Trinitarian parish of St. Ann Bristol, PA.
