Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., and several priests from the Diocese had an opportunity to meet Bishop Pierre Andre Dumas of the Diocese of Ande-a-Veau and Miragoane in South Haiti over the Memorial Day weekend.
Bishop Dumas was present for a May 23 Mass in St. Anthony Church, Hamilton, during which Sister Monique Eloizard celebrated her 25th anniversary in religious life. Sister Monique is a Haitian religious from the Trenton Diocese and has a history of missionary work including religious education and actively participating in local faith communities such as the diocesan Haitian Apostolate.
In religious life, Sister Monique initially was involved with the Missionaries of Charity, the congregation founded by St. Teresa of Kolkata, but went on to join the Sisters of Christian Charity. She currently ministers in Brooklyn, N.Y.
