More than four months have passed since a three-alarm fire devastated a large portion of the former Holy Family School in Lakewood. And now as the community of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Lakewood, deals with many logistics surrounding the rebuilding process and the finances it will require, the parish music minister, Cori Scotti, wants to do something to help.
On March 21 at 7 p.m., Scotti will take to the stage in the town’s Strand Theater and host a benefit performance themed, “Because We Believe: Music for the Soul.”
Along with featuring light opera and some show tunes, Scotti said there will also be performances that reflect the parish’s demographics including a Mexican dance group and mariachis. The children’s choir and the Guadalupanas will also perform. Also lending her skills to the event will be Jessica Kortenhaus, director of liturgical music in St. Martha Parish, Point Pleasant.
“The proceeds of the concert will help with some of our programs that we need to implement or get back on track” since the fire, Scotti said.
General admission tickets are $20 and $50 for VIP tickets that include a buffet dinner at 5:30. VIP tables of eight are also available.
