The New Jersey Catholic Conference, in partnership with the New Jersey Catholic Dioceses, Catholic Charities agencies and Catholic Healthcare Partnership of New Jersey, will host a one-day mental health conference May 2 from 8:30 a.m.-3:15 p.m. in St. John Neumann Pastoral Center, 146 Metlars Lane, Piscataway.
Geared for clergy, religious, parish leaders, ministry volunteers, educators, mental health professionals and all seeking a deeper understanding of mental health and how the Church can respond, the conference aims to educate on the scope of the mental health crisis, reduce stigma surrounding mental illness and offer resources for accompanying sufferers and their families.
Conference highlights include a keynote address by Bishop John P. Dolan of the Phoenix Diocese and breakout sessions led by leading Catholic figures in the mental health field. Mass will be celebrated by Cardinal Joseph Tobin, C.Ss.R. of the Newark Archdiocese.
Registration fee is $40 and early registration is suggested since space is limited to the first 300 people. To register, visit www.njconf.com.
