Christmas found Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., making visits around the Diocese of Trenton – including a stops at the state prison and Morris Hall.
“My priest-secretary Father Michael Wallack and I had the privilege of celebrating Christmas morning Mass at Trenton State Prison,” said Bishop O’Connell. “I had a wonderful, joyful visit with the Catholic resident population.”
Bishop Emeritus John M. Smith, who previously resided in the St. Joseph nursing facility of Morris Hall, has since moved to Morris Hall Meadows, the newest long-term care facility of the organization. Bishop O’Connell came to see Bishop Smith in his new residence following his Mass at the prison.
“I was happy to find Bishop Smith in good spirits on Christmas Day,” he said. “He was cheerful and in great humor. He is enjoying his new environment at Morris Hall Meadows, along with Msgr. Joseph Shenrock. Please keep them and all our beloved retired or infirmed priests in your prayers.”
