The work of women and men serving in various forms of catechetical ministry was honored Sept. 21 during the observance of Catechetical Sunday 2025. In their parishes, catechists are involved in teaching religious education, the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, adult faith formation, Scripture study and in Catholic schools. The theme for the 2025 ties in with the Jubilee Year of Hope, “Always be ready to give an explanation…for a reason for your hope” (1 Pet 3:15).

Among the parishes that held commissioning ceremonies was Sacred Heart Parish, Mount Holly. In addition to acknowledging the catechists, at the parish's 11:30 a.m. Mass, a special honor was also presented to their parish catechetical leader, Barb Kane.
