Good Counsel Homes South Jersey banquet slated for Sept. 30

September 19, 2025 at 3:35 p.m.

Good Counsel Home South Jersey invites all who value life to its annual “One Mom at a Time” gala banquet benefitting their Riverside Home Sept. 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Stone Terrace at John Henry’s, 2275 Kuser Rd., Hamilton.

Guests will meet Christopher Bell, co-founder and president of Good Counsel Homes, as well as mothers and babies living at the Riverside home. This year’s pro-life honorees are the Knights of Columbus State of New Jersey and Dr. Monique Ruberu.

The Knights of Columbus are honored for their unwavering dedication to defending life and supporting mothers in need. Their faithful generosity has strengthened Good Counsel’s mission across the state via their ultrasound machine initiative as well as the Knights’ ASAP program (Aid and Support After Pregnancy). For every $500 raised by local Knights councils and assemblies and donated to a qualifying pregnancy resource center or maternity home, the organization’s Supreme Council donates an additional $100. Since 2022, the Knights of Columbus ASAP Program has donated over $10 million to pregnancy resource centers and maternity homes nationwide.

Dr. Monique Ruberu is a board-certified OB/GYN and Creighton Model/NaproTechnology Medical Consultant, dedicated to faith-based holistic women’s healthcare. A reawakened cradle Catholic, she founded Natural Women’s Health, co-leads 40 Days for Life in Philadelphia, and is the author of “Rising with Roses.” She is a passionate pro-life advocate and mother of five (two in heaven.)

Good Counsel Homes has nine maternity homes in eight states, including its Riverside home established in April 2011. The home offers young mothers the tools and life skills they need to prevent homelessness, including budgeting; vocational assistance; parenting; nutrition; spirituality and chastity; health and AIDS education; post-abortion healing and other life-building, life-affirming assistance.

Since its inception, Good Counsel Homes has supplied more than 8,500 mothers and children with over 775,000 days of help and nights of shelter and support, and 1,368 babies have been born to mothers living there (74 newborns since 2023 alone.) Since 2018, 57% of residents have gained employment, 54% have achieved educational advancement, and mothers have received a total of 14,148 professional one-on-one counseling sessions with their Case Managers. Average occupancy in Good Counsel Homes since 2023 has been 86%.

Tickets for individuals are $85; tickets for clergy and religious are free. Mass will be celebrated at 5:15 p.m. RSVP by Sept. 26. If unable to attend, contributions to help meet a $30,000 matching grant will be graciously accepted. To register or donate, see Goodcounselhomes.org/sjbanquet.
