‘Care For Creation” events planned in Titusville, Hopewell parishes

The Catholic Community of Hopewell Valley is observing the 10th anniversary of Laudato Si, Pope Francis’ encyclical on “Care For Our Common Home” with two events.

  • During September, St. George Church, Titusville, will host an exhibit of personal collections of “Images of Creation,” featuring photographs and art depicting God’s creation.
  • On Sept. 17 from 7-8 p.m. in St. George Parish House, Msgr. Vincent Gartland, a retired priest of the Diocese, who now serves as a weekend assistant priest for the community, will host a presentation on highlights of the encyclical and discuss ways participants can promote the message.

St. George Parish is located at 1370 River Rd., Titusville. Phone 609-737-2015.

  • On Oct. 5 following the 10:30 a.m. Mass, a Pilgrimage of Hope will take place starting at St. Alphonsus Church, Hopewell. Participants will meet at the church for a walk-through the St. Michael Preserve. The event will conclude at 1 p.m. with a prayer service and refreshments in the church basement. St. Alphonsus Church is located at 54 E. Prospect St., Hopewell.
