"I stand in awe of what God has done through Mount Carmel Guild for more than 105 years. This evening is not simply about an organization, it is about people. It is about neighbors and a community that continually chooses compassion over convenience, and that means you."

So stated Daren S. Miller, while reflecting on the work of the diocesan agency during the 30th gala held Oct. 24 in the Trenton County Club.
Bringing together Bishop David M. O'Connell, C.M., along with Guild staff, volunteers, friends and supporters, the annual event is the agency’s signature fundraiser that enables the organization to assist those in need of home health nursing, food, utilities, rental assistance and general community support.
The gala also serves as an opportunity to acknowledge a number of individuals and entities who have supported the Guild and its mission. This year’s award winners are: Terri Olexa, Bishop Thomas J. Walsh Award; Joe and Maureen Mutinsky, Guild Appreciation Award; Mariyam Francis, Guild Neighbor Award; the Social Concerns Ministry of St. Gregory the Great Parish, Hamilton Square, Guild Neighbor Award; Leo Stinson, Guild Appreciation Award; Princeton University's Food Bank Express, Community Service Award.
More to come on this story.
With Guild Appreciation Award in hand, honoree Leo Stinson of St. Paul Parish, Princeton, is congratulated by Jane Chrnelich, chair of the board of trustees at Mount Carmel Guild, left, and Daren Miller, executive director. Mary Stadnyk photos
