Burlington County

Holy Eucharist Parish, Tabernacle, will offer a Bible Study on “Introduction & Interpretation of the Old Testament” Sept. 15, Oct. 22, Nov. 24 and Dec. 1 from 6:30-8 p.m. in Hoffman Hall. Discussions will focus on the historical and cultural perspectives as well as theological interpretations and will draw on the New Testament and teachings of the Catholic Church. Holy Eucharist Small Group Ministry, Tabernacle, has planned a Bible Study, “Introduction & Interpretation of the Old Testament” will hold 12 sessions between October and January that includes reading and discussing the book “Behold, Believe, Become” by Tim O’Malley. Fee is $5 to offset the cost of the book.

Holy Eucharist Parish, Tabernacle, holds Eucharistic Adoration every Wednesday following the 9 a.m. Mass until 4 p.m. Benediction in the daily chapel. For more information on Eucharistic Adoration, scan the QR code found in the parish bulletin. On Nov. 12, Eucharistic Adoration will be extended until 8 p.m. since a Holy Hour will be held from 7-8 p.m. The Holy Hour will include Adoration through prayer, Scripture, music and silence.

Holy Eucharist St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry, Tabernacle, operates by appointment only on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon. Donations may be dropped off at the food pantry assistance or anytime at the donation container outside the garage. All assistance and information provided is confidential. Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, Bordentown, will hold a Veterans Mass Nov. 8 at 5:30 p.m. in St. Mary Church, Bordentown.

Mary, Mother of the Church Parish Food Pantry, Bordentown, is open Monday-Wednesday-Friday from 2-3 p.m.; Tuesday from 6-7 p.m., and Thursday from 9-10 a.m. Items needed include canned dog food, coffee, granola bars, applesauce. Holy Assumption’s pantry is closed for repairs.

Mary, Mother of the Church St. Vincent de Paul Society, Bordentown, will collect gift cards to either Aldi, Shop Rite or Acme instead of holding the annual Thanksgiving food drive. The gift cards can be for any amount up to $25 and will be given to the families the society serves to purchase Thanksgiving meal items. Place gift cards in an envelope marked “SVDP Thanksgiving Gift Card” and drop off in the collection basket or brought to the parish office. Deadline is Nov. 16.

Mary Mother of the Church Parish, Bordentown, will observe National Vocations Awareness Week with an Evening of Eucharistic adoration for the intentions of Vocations Oct. 29 from 7-8 p.m. in St. Mary church, Bordentown. Speaker is Father Christopher Colavito, diocesan director of vocations.

Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, Bordentown, offers a bereavement ministry to accompany persons grieving the loss of a loved one. The ministry’s next seven-week session begins Sept. 17 and will meet on Wednesdays in St. Mary School. Day and evening sessions are planned. Resurrection Parish, Delran, will serve as the site of a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser Nov. 1 from 5-7:30 p.m. Hosted by Scout Troop 25, the dinner includes spaghetti and all-beef meatballs, salad and bread, desserts and hot/cold beverages. Take-out meals are available. Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for children six years and older, and free for children under six. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

Sacred Heart Parish’s Catholic Daughters, Riverton, is participating in “Box of Joy Christmas Gift Collection” through Cross Catholic Outreach. The court provides participants with a shoebox and list the items needed to be purchased to fill the shoebox. Examples of items include small toys, hygiene items, school supplies, clothing. Sacred Heart Parish Bereavement Ministry, Riverton, will hold its next 6-week bereavement session starting Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 6 of the Family Center. St. Ann Parish, Browns Mills, is collecting donations for its Thanksgiving food distribution on Nov. 24. Needed items include canned and non-perishable foods and also turkeys. If bringing a perishable item, inform ushers at Mass so that items may be properly stored.

St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Cinnaminson, collects frozen casseroles to be given to the poor of the area. Donations are made on the second Thursday of each month and given to Catholic Charities Emergency Services. St. Isaac Jogues Parish, Marlton, will hold a 22-week Women’s Bible Study Series beginning Sept. 11. St. Mary of the Lakes Parish, Medford, will offer “Meeting Christ in Prayer,” an eight-week guided prayer experience for small groups. It is modeled on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Each meeting teaches and reinforces specific prayer practices such as Lectio Divina, imaginative prayer, meditation, the Examen. Thirty minutes of daily prayer is required by each participant. St. Mary of the Lakes Parish, Medford, will show Season Five of “The Chosen” on Monday evenings Oct. 6-Nov. 24 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. “The Chosen” is a five-season, 40-episode series portraying the life of Christ and his disciples. The series is non-fiction with heavy focus on Scriptures including the Gospels and some Old Testament foundations, and fiction that does not contradict Scripture. Court St. Denis, Catholic Daughters, Manasquan, is supporting a precursor to The Giving Tree which collects items to be given to the needy children assisted by the Tutwiler Clinic in Tutwiler, Miss. During the first three weeks in October the Court is collecting: dolls, board games, basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, infant and preschool toys, children and infant clothing, lightweight jackets, hoodies. Ken’s Kitchen is a free social lunch program sponsored by St. Mary Parish, Barnegat, which welcomes people of all faiths from Barnegat and surrounding communities. Ken’s Kitchen operates each Thursday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the parish center for coffee, followed by informative speakers and entertainment. St. John Parish St. Vincent de Paul Conference, Lakehurst, is accepting donations of the following items: coffee/tea, Chef Boyardee products (SpaghettiOs, raviolis), white tuna or white chicken, jarred pasta sauce, boxed pasta, cereal. St. Joseph by the Sea Retreat House, South Mantoloking, will hold a presentation on “Five Short Ways to Pray” will be offered Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The day will acquaint participants with ways to pray regardless of time constraints and daily responsibilities. St. Joseph Parish Adult Faith Formation, Toms River, will hold a nine-week video presentation “God Has Rescued Humanity” starting Oct. 6. St. Luke Parish St. Vincent de Paul Conference, Toms River, distributes food to those in need Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food recipients must bring current identification and proof of residence. The food pantry is need of the following items: soups, meal in a can (ravioli, etc.), canned and dry beans, coffee, tea, toilet tissue, laundry detergent, soap and toothpaste. The conference is also collecting foods to prepare Thanksgiving baskets for those in need. Items include: turkeys/turkey breasts; turkey stuffing; gravy; canned vegetables (onions, green beans, corn), canned pumpkin, pie crust mix, biscuit mix, fruit juice, cranberry sauce, boxed mash potatoes, soup and broth, pasta and sauce, applesauce, cornbread mix, frozen pies, cookies.

St. Mary Academy, Manahawkin, is planning for its annual clothing drive in November. The school is currently collecting clean, used or new men’s women’s and children’s clothing, footwear, outerwear, sleepwear, swimwear, hosiery, undergarments, belts ties, scarves, hats, gloves, handbags, wallets, jewelry, towels, linens, blankets, comforters, bicycles, stuffed animals. Items will be distributed to local thrift shops and areas in need. New, ticketed items should be bagged separately. Do not include books, glass items or kitchen accessories. St. Pius X Parish, Forked River, will hold an eight-week Journey Through Grief Bereavement Support Group starting Sept. 10. Sessions will meet on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. in the meeting room. Team members are experienced, certified bereavement facilitators who emotionally and spiritually support those who are grieving.
