Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

I have always been a fan of the Disney Movies; I grew up watching them all the time.

I remember this movie, “A Bugs Life”, honestly it wasn’t one of my favorites, but when I was reading the Gospel for this Sunday, this movie came into my mind.

In the movie the main character is an ant, his name is Flik, and if you have watched this movie, you may remember that Flik is a character that never gives up. He’s always trying to do something to please the queen or the princess and to make her commune of ants more effective. You will also remember that the grasshoppers are the bad guys in the movie, since they are the ones who demand food from the ants.

But this movie came in mind specifically because of Flik, who never surrenders, he is just a small ant that generates great effects on others and in everything he does, with his faith he could even create a bird to scare the grasshoppers and to leave them alone. This ant, Flik, even being so small, changes the lives of his colony. Something that was impossible, like small ants taking on huge grasshoppers, became possible because of him. They everyday life as a colony was changed because of him.

In the Gospel of this Sunday, Jesus tells us that even if your faith is from the size of a mustard seed you can do great things, since God has the power to make the impossible become possible.

The only thing that He asks us is that we have faith in Him, that we trust that with His grace everything will be fine, that doesn’t matter how big the problem is or the circumstance’s we are not alone, we just must let Him be in control.

Let us be like Flik the ant, even being so small, he could achieve great things. Let’s remember that no matter how complicated our situation might be, everything is possible, because for God nothing is impossible.
