Catholic legal and judicial professionals recognized during Red Mass

St. Michael Church, West End, served as the site of the 2025 Red Mass, an annual gathering that brings judges, attorneys, clerks, lawmakers and students preparing to enter these professions where they can prayerfully celebrate their Catholic faith.
Bishop David M. O'Connell, C.M., served as principal celebrant of the Mass. Concelebrants included Father John Butler, pastor of St. Michael Parish, and Father John Chang, parochial vicar of St. Veronica Parish, Howell, both of whom worked as attorneys prior to becoming priests.
Homilist was Deacon Joseph Bianco of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, N.Y., who is also a judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
