Former Holy Family School in Lakewood site of fire

The former Holy Family School in Lakewood – part of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish – was the site of a blaze Oct. 3, 2025, where area firefighters worked through the night to bring it under control.
Holy Family School on East County Line Road closed as a Catholic elementary school in 2015. The building has been under lease to the local public school district to serve as the home of Piner Elementary School, which occupied the space until a few months ago, according to parish reports. The parish has continued to use the school for religious education classes.
