As part of its ongoing St. Paul Presents speaker series, the Princeton parish welcomed Father David Michael Moses, a Catholic priest and YouTuber from the Archiocese of Galveston-Houston, for a Lenten preparatory event Feb. 25-26.

Mixing humor, original songs and his passion for sharing the faith, Father Moses spoke on “How the Sacraments Change Everything,” with special sessions dedicated to youth and young adults as well as the wider parish family and guests from across the Diocese.

“For our own sanctification and for the sanctification of those around us … we can lean into the greatest tools the Church has given us – the Sacrament of Confession and the Eucharist,” he said. “I think we sometimes forget that the whole point of Christ’s mission on earth was for sinners … Jesus on the cross is big enough to forgive any sin … the problem is that so many of us don’t trust him with our sins.”

Father Moses pointed to the God-given gifts everyone has – talents, families, finances, time – and said that “the devil wants them for his kingdom, and God wants them for his kingdom … Which kingdom do they serve? Whichever one you choose.”

Comparing evil influences to a seldom-used membership with a monthly fee, Father Moses said, “The devil is happy to get you to commit one really big sin, but what he really wants is a subscription … every day, every month, taking a little bit of your energy and time … going to Confession is cancelling the subscription.”

Quoting St. Jose Maria Escriva, he said, “‘If time were money, maybe you could afford to waste it, but time is life, and you never know how much you have left.’ How we spend our time is how we spend our lives.”
