Funeral services for Deacon Thomas Garvey of Hightstown parish

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 16 in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Hightstown, for Deacon Thomas Joseph Garvey who died July 12.

Born in Hackensack in 1941, Deacon Garvey grew up in Neptune. He graduated form St. Rose High School, Belmar, in 1959, then served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960 to 1963. He worked numerous jobs before he founded Garvey Pest Control, Inc., in 1992 and  was ordained a deacon May 10, 1986 in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton, by Bishop John C. Reiss.

Deacon Garvey is survived by his wife of 62 years, Deloris “Dee” Garvey, and their children Richard (Annette), Sharon, Deloris (Jon) and Matthew (Claire); four grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hightstown.

Memorial donations may be made to Rise Food Pantry at njrise.org.
