Deacon James A. Manaloris, served in Burlco parishes

Deacon James A. Manaloris, who ministered in Resurrection Parish, Delran, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Maple Shade, died Dec. 23 at age 78.

Funeral services were held Jan. 2 in Chadwick Funeral Home, Riverside. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery, Cinnaminson.

Born in New York City, Deacon Manaloris was a resident of Delran for the past 50 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was a prison chaplain for the former Yardville Correctional Center, now known as the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility. He was a Past Grand Knight of St. John Neumann Council, Knights of Columbus. He was ordained a deacon May 11, 1996, in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton, by Bishop George W. Ahr. In addition to his parish ministry, he did prison ministry work in Burlington and Camden Counties. He was also a religious education teacher in Holy Name Parish, Delran, now part of Resurrection Parish.

Deacon Manaloris is survived by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis; daughter, Megan; a grandson; brother, and nephew.
